Understanding PPTX to Text Conversion
What Gets Extracted?
Text from RichText shapes on each slide — titles, bullet lists, and text boxes — is extracted in slide order. Speaker notes, images, charts, and embedded objects are not included; only the visible on-slide text is captured.
Why Convert to Plain Text?
A slide deck's real content is often just its words — plain text strips away the design, transitions, and layout so you can search, copy, or repurpose the content without needing PowerPoint at all. It's also far lighter than the original file.
Legacy .ppt vs Modern .pptx
Modern .pptx files (PowerPoint 2007 and later) use a well-documented XML-based format that parses reliably. Legacy .ppt files use an older binary format with more limited, best-effort support — for guaranteed accuracy, save the file as .pptx first if you have that option.
Remember: this tool extracts on-slide text only — if you need the original design, layout, and images preserved, use the PowerPoint to PDF converter instead.
