YouTube Thumbnail Grabber
Get the thumbnail for any YouTube video, at every resolution YouTube actually has available. Paste a link, see the sizes that exist, and copy the original image URL or download the image as a file.
How to use
- Paste a YouTube link into the field.
- Press Grab thumbnail.
- Copy the original CDN URL, or download the size you want.
The tool reads the video ID in your browser and only checks the five standard thumbnail sizes after you ask it to — nothing is fetched while you type.
Supported URL formats
The grabber accepts every common way of sharing a YouTube video:
- Standard watch links —
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=... - Short links —
https://youtu.be/... - Shorts —
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/... - Live streams —
https://www.youtube.com/live/... - Embeds —
https://www.youtube.com/embed/...
Any other website is rejected with a clear message, so a pasted link can never be treated as an arbitrary fetch.
Thumbnail resolutions
For each video, the tool checks the five standard YouTube variants and lists only the ones that exist, highest resolution first:
- Max resolution — 1280 × 720
- Standard — 640 × 480
- High — 480 × 360
- Medium — 320 × 180
- Default — 120 × 90
The highest resolution is only generated when the source video was uploaded at a high enough quality. If a size is missing for your video, it is simply omitted rather than shown as a broken image.
Copy vs. download
- Copy URL puts the original
i.ytimg.comYouTube CDN URL on your clipboard — a first-party, stable link that is not tied to GoConverter. - Download saves the image to your device through a narrowly restricted server endpoint that accepts only a validated video ID and a known variant.
Downloading the video or audio itself, retrieving transcripts, or bypassing YouTube access controls is not part of this tool.
Privacy
The video ID is parsed in your browser. Thumbnail resolution checks load each image directly from YouTube's CDN, and downloads pass through a restricted GoConverter endpoint that only ever fetches approved YouTube image hosts over HTTPS. GoConverter does not store the thumbnails you look up.
