PNG to HEIC Converter
Compress a PNG image by re-encoding it as HEIC. HEIC uses HEIF compression to deliver photos at much smaller file sizes than PNG — useful when you want to shrink a PNG for iPhone or iPad storage and don't need to preserve the lossless original.
How to Convert PNG to HEIC
1. Upload Your PNG File
Drag a .png file onto the drop zone, or click to browse. Files up to 10MB are supported.
2. Pick a target
Choose the target format you want — by default this converts to HEIC.
3. Download the result
Click Convert, preview, and download.
Why Convert PNG to HEIC?
- Smaller files — HEIC is typically 50-70% smaller than an equivalent PNG, especially for photographic content.
- iOS / iPadOS native — HEIC is the default photo format on iPhone and iPad, so re-encoded files are first-class there.
- Less wasted storage — useful when you want to fit more images on an Apple device.
About PNG and HEIC
PNG is a lossless raster format that supports transparency. HEIC is a lossy container used by Apple since iOS 11. Converting PNG → HEIC will lose the lossless guarantee and the alpha channel; pick HEIC only when you need Apple-native storage and smaller files.
A note on support
This is an alias of our Image Converter. The Image Converter currently supports HEIC, TIFF, and SVG as input. The HEIC output path is a placeholder pending backend rollout — re-encoding as HEIC requires HEIF encoder support that is not yet wired up. The page exists so the URL resolves and the navigation is complete — once the encoder lands, no further changes will be needed here.
