Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Merging happens entirely in your browser — nothing is transmitted, logged, or stored.
What happens to password-protected PDFs?
A file that can't be read is rejected with an error when you add it, before it's added to the queue — it won't silently get skipped during the merge.
