Why Convert TIFF to JPG?
- Smaller file size — a multi-megapixel TIFF can easily be 50MB. The equivalent JPG is often under 1MB.
- Universal compatibility — JPG opens everywhere. TIFF support is patchy outside of scanners, print, and design tools.
- Email and chat — most mail providers cap attachments at 10-25MB. JPGs almost always fit.
- Web uploads — forms, social media, and CMSes almost always accept JPG but rarely accept TIFF.
About TIFF
TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is the de facto standard for scanned documents, print proofs, and archival photography. It's lossless, supports CMYK, and can include multiple pages, but the file size makes it impractical for web and email. Our tool decodes the TIFF server-side via Imagick / ImageMagick and re-encodes it to JPG at high quality (90%).
Privacy
Files are uploaded to our server for conversion (required for TIFF decoding), processed, and then discarded. We don't retain copies.
