JPG to HEIC Converter
Shrink a JPEG photo by re-encoding it as HEIC. HEIC uses HEIF compression to deliver photos at roughly half the size of an equivalent JPG — useful when you need to fit more images on an iPhone or iPad and don't mind the format switch.
How to Convert JPG to HEIC
1. Upload Your JPG File
Drag a .jpg or .jpeg file onto the drop zone, or click to browse. Files up to 10MB are supported.
2. Pick a target
Choose the target format you want — by default this converts to HEIC.
3. Download the result
Click Convert, preview, and download.
Why Convert JPG to HEIC?
- Smaller files — HEIC photos are typically 40-50% smaller than equivalent JPGs at the same visual quality.
- iOS / iPadOS native — HEIC is the default photo format on iPhone and iPad, so re-encoded files are first-class there.
- Same quality — HEIF compression is roughly equivalent to JPG at the same bit budget.
About JPG and HEIC
JPG is a lossy raster format with universal support. HEIC is a modern container used by Apple since iOS 11. Convert JPG → HEIC when you want smaller files for Apple device storage and don't need broad compatibility outside Apple's ecosystem.
A note on support
This is an alias of our Image Converter. The Image Converter currently supports HEIC, TIFF, and SVG as input. The HEIC output path is a placeholder pending backend rollout — re-encoding as HEIC requires HEIF encoder support that is not yet wired up. The page exists so the URL resolves and the navigation is complete — once the encoder lands, no further changes will be needed here.
