Common questions

What is an SPF record for?
It's a DNS TXT record that lists which mail servers are allowed to send email on behalf of a domain, so receiving mail servers can reject messages forged to look like they came from you.
What's the difference between ~all and -all?
-all (hard fail) tells receiving servers to reject mail from unauthorized senders outright. ~all (soft fail) asks them to accept it but mark it as suspicious — often used temporarily while rolling out a new SPF policy before switching to a hard fail.
Is my domain name sent anywhere?
Yes — looking up a DNS record inherently requires asking a DNS resolver. This tool queries Google's public DNS-over-HTTPS API (dns.google) directly from your browser; the domain isn't sent to, or stored by, GoConverter's own servers.
Why does "no SPF record found" appear for a domain I know sends mail?
Some domains delegate outbound mail entirely to a subdomain or a third-party sender, or simply haven't published SPF at all — which is itself worth knowing, since it means anyone can forge mail claiming to be from that domain without an SPF check ever catching it.
